Selecting the Correct Commode
Selecting the Correct Commode or Bath Safety item is easy. Please read this quick guide or give us a call at 888-570-8836 for tips on selecting the correct one.
The first thing to think about when selecting the correct item is the weight capacity.Try to pick an item that you are at least 20 lbs under the weight capacity. If you need a higher capacity commode or bath safety product you can find them in our Bariatric Bathroom Aids section.
If the item is going to be moved around often by the user or a caregiver, you may want to consider a commode with wheels on it from our Bathroom Wheelchair section.
If you are looking for a commode that you may need to travel with, you will find it in our Travel Bath Safety section.
Next consider the width between arms.18” – 19” width between the arms of a commode is pretty standard.Just put a tape measure across the widest area of the lap, the hips or the thighs.Just measure from left to right.
Make sure to check the seat height if you plan on using your new commode over an existing toilet. If the maximum seat height of the new commode is higher than your existing one you should have no problem. Most of our commodes come with a splash guard for use when using over an existing toilet.
If you have any other questions please give us a call at 888-570-8836
